Dimebag Darrell，1966年8月20日出生，美国人，吉他手，音乐人。

Abbott的父母叫做Carolyn和Jerry Abbott，一个乡村音乐家和一个制作人。12岁的时候和吉他结缘，他的第一把吉他是Hondo Les Paul。他得到了一把不大的电吉他，并在达拉斯的Agora Ballroom举办的一系列地区吉他比赛中取胜，并在那里得到了一把Dean ML作为奖赏。他的父亲在比赛的前一天的早晨就已经给他买了一把爆裂樱红色的Dean ML，所以他没有多长时间弹这把琴就要参加比赛。最后，根据《吉他世界》杂志对一些家庭成员和朋友的采访，Abbott被禁止参加比赛，因为他没给其他参赛者任何赢的机会。在这些曾经比赛的奖品中就包括他的第一台Randall Amplifier，从此和这个牌子结下了缘。Pantera在他16岁时发布了首张专辑《Metal Magic》（1983年）。最初是一名魅力金属音乐家，阿伯特当时使用的艺名是Diamond Darrell。在1984年和1985年，他们以魅力金属风格发布了另外两张专辑，直到1986年Phil Anselmo取代了原唱Terry Glaze，乐队的风格才开始转变。

Pantera乐队和Damageplan乐队

Abbott和他的鼓手兄弟Vinnie Paul在1981年组建了Pantera乐队，他们像Slayer, Megadeth和Metallica以及一些传统金属乐队Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Venom, Judas Priest一样的动作演出。直到9年后商业上相当成功的专辑《Cowboys from Hell》发行，Pantera乐队逐渐看到自己已经形成了groove metal，新的表现形式post-thrash（新激流金属/后激流金属）的标尺！Pantera的“groove”风格在1992年2月25日发行的专辑《Vulgar Display of Power》开花结果。在这张专辑里没有男士假声的高音，取而代之的是硬核式的厚重吼叫以及更加重的吉他RIFF。

1994年，Abbott抛弃了绰号"Diamond Darrell"然后用上了大家熟知的"Dimebag Darrell." 90年代中期Pantera乐队在成员们不断升级的紧张局面上痛苦的挣扎，主要源于主唱Phil Anselmo的drug成瘾。2003年，这种裂缝逐渐扩大但是还没有正式的分崩。Anselmo忙于其他事宜远离了Pantera，组建了Superjoint Ritual和Down乐队，贝斯手Rex Brown也跟随之去了Down。一年后，Abbott兄弟两个也组建了新乐队Damageplan，在Damageplan他们依然沿袭了Pantera式的“groove”风格，兄弟俩找来了前Halford的吉他手Pat Lachman来当主唱，Bob Zilla作为贝斯手也加入了Damageplan。2004年的2月10日他们发行了乐队的首张专辑《New Found Power》，首次进榜就在Billboard 200取得了38位的成绩，第一周就卖出了44,676张。当给新乐队写歌的时候Dimebag说“我们要把我们的能力拓展到极限”。

Abbott经常出现在吉他杂志以及读者的投票中，而且还在《吉他世界》杂志写有长篇专栏，收录在书籍《Riffer Madness》中。他的音色获得广泛赞誉，并被《吉他乐手》杂志评为最伟大的50之一。被人们铭记的是他和善的天性以及和所有歌迷打成一片。Abbott被Allmusic评价为“最有影响力的现代金属风格大师”之一。不幸的是在2004年的12月8日，他在美国俄亥俄州的哥伦布市Alrosa Villa俱乐部作为Damageplan乐队主音的演出中被枪杀身亡。《滚石》杂志将阿伯特排名第92位“有史以来最伟大的吉他手”榜单上，2018年《Louder》杂志将他排名第19位“有史以来最伟大的吉他手”榜单上。2015年，他在Gibson的“有史以来最顶尖的金属吉他手”榜单上排名第5位，并在同一年被VH1评为过去25年最具影响力的金属吉他手。
